The silver bells of the skyIn the fall, flocks of these birds set off in search of rowan berries in Uppland. Their song sounds a bit like silver bells tinkling – a cheerful sound in the chilly days of winter.
The bohemian waxwing builds its nest in northern coniferous forests. In Sweden, they nest in Norbotten and near Lycksele in northern Sweden.
Some winters, the bohemian waxwing is a common sight in Uppland – there might be over 10,000 waxwings inside Uppsala city alone! Other winters, though, there might only be a few small flocks about.
