Common Eider

Latin: Somateria mollissima (Linné 1758)
Svenska: Ejder
Deutsch: Eiderente

Freedivers
Eiders eat mussels. However, mussels live in rather deep water, so these birds sometimes need to dive up to 10 meters below the surface to find them!

Eiders are quite common along the coast.

In September, they migrate to the southwest Baltic Sea, to the Kattegatt and to the North Sea, returning in mid-March.
