Sea-buckthorn
Latin: Hippophaë rhamnoides (Linné 1753)
Svenska: Havtorn
Deutsch: Sanddorn
A real super berry!
Sea-buckthorn’s berries contain a higher amount of vitamins than any other berry or fruit in the world. One sea-buckthorn berry can contain as much vitamin C as an entire orange!
Sea-buckthorn is common along Uppland’s coast, tending to grow quite close to the beach. However, it is easily out-competed by other plants.
Sea-buckthorn drops its leaves in the autumn. In the spring, the flowers bloom before the leaves, which come out quite late in the season.
