Parasitic Jaeger
Latin: Stercorarius parasiticus (Linné 1758)
Svenska: Kustlabb
Deutsch: Schmarotzerraubmöwe
Pirates
Parasitic jaegers don’t catch their own food. Instead, they gang up on gulls and terns to make them drop their catch in midair. Then, the jaegers quickly dive down to snatch up the half-eaten food.
Parasitic jaegers can be found on small islands in the archipelago.
Between July and September, they migrate to the Atlantic. They will live on the open sea during the winter, and return in mid-April.
