Greylag Goose

Latin: Anser anser (Linné 1758)
Svenska: Grågås
Deutsch: Graugans

A Joyful Story
The greylag goose was at one point an endangered species. Their numbers decreased all over Sweden, and the species were placed under protection in the early 1900’s. The number of graylag geese has since risen considerably, and they can now be found along the coast and near larger lakes in Uppland.

Greylag geese migrate in September and October to Spain, France, and the Netherlands. They return in mid-February and March.
