There are several beautiful birding places close to Uppsala – Dalkarlskärret in Hammarskog is one of them. The shallow fen is 1.5 m deep at its deepest point, cut off from the sea about 4000 years ago. Today, the fen is filled with ducks and grebes who eat the aquatic plants and insects.
