Carex cespitosa
Latin: Carex cespitosa (Linné 1753)
Svenska: Tuvstarr
Deutsch: Rasen-Segge
Small trolls´ heads
Cows are not especially fond of Carex cespitosa; they will only eat them in the spring. For this reason, this grass may grow quite high during the rest of the year. At dusk, they somewhat resemble trolls’ heads standing up on the beach.
Carex cespitosa is quite common in damp clay soils around Uppland.
This grass normally blooms in the middle of summer.
