Springtail
Latin: Collembola
Svenska: Hoppstjärtar
Deutsch: Springschwänze
Master hopper
Springtails are very small. They are related to insects, but are a part of their own group. With a fork-like growth on the underside of its body, it can hop very high relative to its size. If a springtail were as large as a human, it would be able to jump 60 m in the air!
Springtails are found where there are dead plant parts they can eat.
