Record-breaking antennae
Male timberman beetles have extremely long antennae. They need them in order to find the females, who are almost perfectly camouflaged when perched on a pine tree!
Timberman beetles are found in pine forests throughout Uppland. Newly hatched beetles spend the winter inside wood from dead pines. The larvae live only off of the pine wood.
