Dunlin
Latin: Calidris alpina (Linné 1758)
Svenska: kärrsnäppa
Deutsch: Alpenstrandläufer
Critically endangered
Flocks of dunlins can sometimes be seen swaying to and fro in synchronized, swirling flight patterns.
The dunlin is the rarest nesting bird in Uppland county. Only one or two mating pairs of these 'southern' dunlins' nesting sites have been recorded in Ledskär.
Thousands of dunlins pass by Uppland between July and October. They are on their way from Russia to southern destinations.
