One might say that northern pintail are the noblemen of the duck world, with their long tailfeathers and long stately necks.
There are only a few northern pintails who raise their young in Uppland - most of these birds are found much farther north. In May, there are often a few mating pairs to be found at Ledskär and Hjälstaviken.
Northern pintails migrate to southern Europe and Africa in September and October, returning to Uppland in April.
