Eurasian Lynx
Latin: Lynx lynx (Linné 1758)
Svenska: lodjur
Deutsch: Eurasischer Luchs
A Swedish tiger
In the forests around Uppsala, one can find Europe's largest cat: the lynx. It is a skilled hunter, killig its prey with a powerful bite to the neck.
Lynx in Uppland eat mostly roe deer, but might also grab a hare or a bird. When there are plenty of voles around, the lynx may also spend a lot of time hunting those.
The inventory from 2018/2019 showed that there were around 50 lynx in Uppland. They stay in Uppland all through the winter.
