Long-tailed Jaeger

Latin: Stercorarius longicaudus (Vieillot 1819)
Svenska: Fjällabb
Deutsch: Falkenraubmöwe

Watch your head!
The long-tailed jaeger isn’t scared of anyone - many mountain hikers have had a jaeger come at them. Long-tailed jaegers will come at everything from lemmings to bears!

The closest nesting place for these birds is in Härjedalen. If you want to try to see one in Uppland, you should head out to Rönnskärsudde or Skatudden in late August.

During the winter, long-tailed jaegers live out on the open sea, likely in the Atlantic Ocean just south of the equator. Nobody knows for sure!
