Horned Lark
Latin: Eremophila alpestris (Linné 1758)
Svenska: Berglärka
Deutsch: Ohrenlerche
One tough bird
The horned lark builds its nest high up in the mountains, in places like Jämtland. When it arrives in the springtime, there is still snow, but the horned lark is tough. It might even spend the winter in Uppland!
If you’re lucky, you might see a horned lark on its way through Uppland, in Ledskär or Vendelsjön around April.
These birds may be found in Uppland from the end of September till the end of May. A few spend the winter here, while others continue on a little farther south.
