Latin: Alces alces (Linné 1758)
Svenska: Älg

The king of the forest
The moose has been an important species of game for people in Uppland. On Öland, there are cave drawings depicting moose hunting which date back 6000 years. For many tourists, the moose is an exclusive animal because it is rare in continental Europe.
Moose eat rice, herbs, twigs, and pine needles. In the summer, it might also wade out into a lake to eat waterlilies.
These mammals are found throughout Uppland, and stay throughout the winter.
