Redwing
Latin: Turdus iliacus (Linné 1766)
Svenska: Rödvingetrast
Deutsch: Rotdrossel
Birds with different dialects
Redwings from different parts of Scandinavia have different songs. Try to figure out how the redwings in your area sound. In the springtime, when there are redwings stopping by on their way north, you can compare their songs!
The redwing builds its nest in forests throughout Uppland. You are most likely to hear it singing in the evening, in April or May.
Redwings migrate southwards in October and November, spending the winter in Western Europe, the Black Sea, or the Caspian Sea. They return in early April.
